(MTL VS CHI) Habs Dominate, Win 4-1
Despite two disallowed goals, Montreal still got the win. The Habs were coming off a disappointing 4-1 loss to Philly, looking to bounce back against the Bedard-less Blackhawks on Thursday. They did so, widely dominating and winning 4-1. 1st Period: Despite a strong start, the Blackhawks would score on their first shot. St Louis challenged for goaltender interference, and the goal came back. That wouldn't deter Chicago, however, as they scored again for real on their first sh

(MTL VS PHI) Montreal Loses to the Flyers
The Habs lost to a hungrier Philadelphia team Tuesday night. The Habs came off a very impressive win Sunday night, looking to build off it on Tuesday. They were facing a Flyers team that has surprised many teams this year under Rick Tochett. They are a stingy bunch, who don't give much to the opposition. The trend continued, with the Flyers winning 4-1. I'm not going to recap each period, because the game was boring and I didn't watch it. You have to give props to the Flyers,

Blue Jays Sign Funky Arm Man Tyler Rogers
Will Tyler Rogers close game 7 of the World Series now? The Toronto Blue Jays just added a pitcher who throws like no one else in the league. Legend Tyler Rogers, known for his unique style and unorthodox delivery, has officially signed with the Jays. Toronto signed him to a three-year, $37 million deal. That's not bad for a guy who has a career 2.76 ERA. Who Is This Guy? Tyler Rogers is not your typical pitcher. Standing at 5'10", he doesn’t overpower hitters with speed. Ins

(MTL VS EDM) Montreal's Special Teams Wins Them A Game
Early penalty kills and two power play goals led the Habs to a win Sunday Night After a blown lead last night against the Rangers, the Habs were right back at it Sunday to face the surging Oilers. After an 8-3 drubbing at the hands of the Stars, Edmonton had won 5 of 7 games. McDavid had been red hot, including 3 points in yesterday's game against the Leafs. However, Montreal was able to tame an early Oilers' storm and went on to win the game 4-1. 1st Period: Immediately, aft

(MTL @ NYR) Habs Play Terribly, Lose in Overtime
Montreal got out to a 3-0 lead and then proceeded to collapse defensively. Coming off Jacob Fowler's first win against the Penguins, Montreal was in New York to take on the Rangers. The Rangers have been struggling to win and score at home, so if Montreal was able to get out to a lead, they should've been able to win. The Habs did just that, getting off to a 3-0 lead, somewhat fortunately. They then decided to stop playing hockey, losing 5-4 in overtime. 1st Period: Montreal

Evidently FEMA-less Caps fall to Hurricanes in Shootout
The loss to Carolina last night continues the Caps' shaky form of the past 3 games. Nobody decided to put out a truly impressive performance, (aside from another solid outing by Logan "Better than your Favourite Goalie" Thompson) which resulted in a disappointing shootout defeat after leading with less than 3 minutes to go in the third. Though we picked up a point, none of our big name skaters really did much, aside from an Ovi assist. Despite that, perpetual bottom six GOAT

(MTL @ PIT) Fowler Gets The Win In His First Career Start
Depth scoring and good goaltending leads the Habs to a win in Pittsburgh. After an abysmal 6-1 slaughtering at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning, which saw suspect defending and goaltending, the Montreal Canadiens decided to shake things up. They called up three Laval players, those being Beck, Engstrom, and Fowler. All three got into action against the Penguins Thursday night. However, all eyes were on Jacob Fowler, making his first start ever in the NHL. With unbelievabl

Habs Call Up Jacob Fowler Amid Goaltending Struggles
Montreal also calls up Beck and Engstrom. Following a 6-1 drubbing by the Tampa Bay Lightning, a result that has become far too common as of late, the Habs figured it was time to shake things up. Almost immediately after the game, they called up three players from Laval, forward Owen Beck, defensemen Adam Engstrom, and, most notably, goaltender Jacob Fowler. Fowler's call-up comes on the heels of another poor performance by Montreal's goaltending, where Dobes and Montembeault

(TOR VS NYK) We Lose Again
Toronto sucks right now. After a blowout against the Hornets, Toronto was looking to put up some sort of fight against the Knicks in the NBA Cup quarter finals. If they won, they would be able to go to Vegas for the semi-final. That effort was better, but the outcome remained the same. They lost 117-101. It was a fairly even first quarter, which the Raptors won by four. Jalen Brunson kept New York in it during the first quarter, scoring 20 points in the frame. Then the usual

(MTL VS TBL) Montreal Is In Trouble
Useless bottom 6 and non-existent goaltending are costing the Habs games right now Coming off a game they probably deserved to win, Montreal welcomed in the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Tampa had lost four in a row and been shutout in back-to-back games. So, of course, they were due for a big offensive game. That obviously happened. Despite playing well, Montreal gave up too many grade-A chances, got terrible goaltending, and lost 6-1. 1st Period: Montreal started we

(MTL VS STL) Montreal Leaves Two Points On The Table
1 minute of bad play cost the Habs a winnable game. Coming off back-to-back shootout wins, Montreal was looking to make it three in a row against the lowly Blues.... who are not a good team. They struggle to score, and their goaltending has been superb this year. Neither of those was an issue for them tonight, as St Louis beat the Habs 4-3, getting better goaltending and capitalising on their few chances. 1st Period: Montreal came out flying. They spent the first ten minutes

(TOR VS BOS) Raptors Lose Again
Toronto mounted a comeback, but fall short again. Toronto came off a terrible performance against the Charlotte Hornets, looking to rebound against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are very hot, while the Raptors have cooled off significantly. The trends continued. The Celtics beat the Raptors 121-113. The first two quarters were terrible. They couldn't play defense and went into halftime down 18 points. The third started badly again, and the Raptors were at one point down 23.

Just How Close Were the Blue Jays To Winning the World Series?
Looking back at it, how did they not win it? The Toronto Blue Jays lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers in heartbreaking fashion, losing 5-4 in game 7 to deny them of a championship. It was a magical ride, including knocking off the mighty Yankees, as well as beating the Mariners in 7 games. George Springer's game 7 homerun in the ALCS was probably a top 3 Blue Jays moment of all time. They were lined up to face a dynasty, the juggernaut Dodgers, and many people d

(TOR VS CHA) What The Hell Was That?
Toronto loses twice to a terrible Hornets team within a week. Coming off a heartbreaker last night to the Lakers, the Raptors got ready to face a Hornets team that ended their nine game losing streak less than a week ago. Charlotte wins 11-86. Charlotte has only won one game on the road this year, and one would think the team would come out and dominate them before they face three difficult teams in the Celtics twice, Knicks, and Bucks. The opposite happened. They came out fl

Is Ivan Demidov the Front-Runner For the Calder?
Has Demidov been the NHL's best rookie so far this year? Coming into this year, Ivan Demidov was the front-runner to win the Calder Trophy - the award given to the NHL's best rookie. His exceptional play in the KHL last year, coupled with his flash of brilliance during the playoffs, made Montreal fans excited about his potential this year. Capitals Drop 7 on the Sharks, Ryan Leonard Suspected of Performance-Enhancing Witchcraft
The Washington Capitals continue their hot streak with a 6th consecutive win. The squad opted to show the San Jose Sharks no mercy, scoring 6 goals in the first two periods in a performance reminiscent of Genghis Khan's razing of steppe villages. The Sharks, on the other hand, played a 23/24 adjacent game before remembering how to play hockey and putting up a consolation marker in the 3rd. The Daily Habit: What Does Our Third Line Even Do?
Evans, Anderson, and Gallagher have been a terrible line so far this year. Image by letsgohabs.com With all the injuries the Habs have incurred, it's only natural that the lines would get shuffled up. With Dach getting injured, Evans was forced into the third-line center role. With Laine getting injured, Gallagher ended up on the line with Evans and Anderson.
